“So we’re not giving up. How could we! Even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without his unfolding grace.”
2 Corinthians 4:17 (Message Bible)
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always felt a little different; a little out of place and alone. Even in the midst of family and friends, I tended to feel as if there had to be more to life than this (whatever was happening at that time). I’d love to say that I no longer feel that way often but I can’t. I can say I’ve learned to accept that I am different ~unique, as many of us are. And that is perfectly okay.
But I have discovered there is “more to life than this”. My more comes from unconditionally serving others right where they are and in being unapologetically comfortable in my own skin.
I’ve been accused of being a ‘deep’ thinker; always researching and always asking questions. But I’ve also been accused of being an excellent listener and encourager. As I’ve journeyed through life with women of all ages and backgrounds, I’ve found that people just want to be heard. We want to know if anybody really ‘sees’ us. I have a heart for helping people, specifically women, overcome the emotional baggage gained by simply living life.
I’ve had my share of emotional trauma and I certainly identify with the brokenhearted. However, I’ve learned to fight through it all; oftentimes alone. I refused to allow depression, fear, disappointments, and betrayal to control my life ~ my well-being. My faith in God, and I’m sure the prayers of a few close friends, have been my sustenance.
For more than 20 years, I’ve walked with women as they navigated life – marriages, kids, jobs, faith, etc. And while I followed the traditional path of attending college securing degrees in Computer Information System and Psychology, and briefly working in corporate America, I most enjoy my time serving as a lay counselor and encourager.
I’ve served as a ministry teacher, speaker, and facilitator of women’s groups and weekend retreats for more than 15 years.
I’m an Atlanta, GA native currently living in what’s known as the Triangle area of NC. I’ve been married for 25+ years and have two teenagers. I’ve co-owned a law practice with my husband for over 18 years.
Currently, I am a content creator, freelancer, and advocate. I’m currently sharpening my writing skills through a faith-based writing program.
Well, that’s just a little bit about me.
I aspire to encourage and inspire in this space. Here’s hoping you will hang around and navigate life with me!
